Learning Objectives
Workshop participants completing this course will:
- Gain exposure to emerging HCI disciplines of Service Design and Embodied Interaction
- Acquire practical experience in observational field research
- Learn new brainstorming and creativity techniques
- Explore technology design for public and urban environments
- Experience the design lifecycle in a rich socio-technical domain
Structure and Content
The workshop will run it over two and a half days. The tentative schedule is below.
Day 1
- Embodied Interaction (45 mins)
- Service Design Field Research (45 mins)
Break(30 mins)
- Location Aware and Urban Computing (45 mins)
- Field work hands-on guide (15 mins)
Lunch (1 hour)
- Fieldwork (2 hours)
- Synthesis of materials (1 hour)
- Open discussion (30 mins)
- Designing Embodied Interaction (30 mins)
- Service Design Generative Design Phase (30 mins)
Day 2 (afternoon only)
Break (30 mins)
- Brainstorming workshop (analysing, concept generation, scenarios, storyboards) (2 hours)

Day 3
